Maestro Echoplex Recording New Album

Catherine Lewis reports:
Brooklyn-based trio Maestro Echoplex is recording their first full-length album-- tentatively titled The Mirrors and Uncle Sam-- with Chad Clark (Beauty Pill, Smart Went Crazy) at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA. Maestro Echoplex is the recording project of Andy Goldman (guitar, voice, keys), John Berry (bass, sax), and TJ Lipple (drums, trombone).

This record will follow up last year's mostly solo EP Last Night I Saw God on the Dance Floor, which drew a lot of flattering comparisons to a more tuneful Will Oldham or Songs: Ohia. The addition of a rhythm section for the new record has put some meat on them bones, making for a more expressive and developed sound. It will also feature the violin of Jean Cook, who's played with Jenny Toomey and the Gena Rowlands Band.

Until then, you can catch the Maestro at work at a few shows here in the States and a few festivals in Europe:

05-20 Brooklyn, NY - Pete's Candy Store
05-27 Brooklyn, NY - Galapagos Art Space
06-01 Amsterdam - VPRO Festival
07-13 Belgium - Dour Festival (w/Alec Empire, Girls Against Boys, Couch, Idaho)
